Tips to keep your home safe while you're away this long weekend.

Category General

If you're planning to go away, it's time to think about keeping your home safe. Before you pack your bags and head out, here are some simple safety tips to ensure your home stays secure:

Lock it Up: Before you leave, make sure to lock all doors and windows securely.
Light it Up: Putting your lights on timers or asking a neighbour to switch them on and off while you're away. A well-lit home gives the impression that someone is there.
Quiet on Social Media: While it's tempting to share your vacation plans on social media, it's best to keep it quiet until you return.
Ask a friend: Ask a trusted neighbour, friend, or family member to keep an eye on your place while you're gone. They can collect your mail, and water your plants.
Alarm On: If you have a home security system, make sure it's armed before you leave. It's your first line of defence against intruders.
Secure Valuables: If you have any valuables like jewellery or electronics, store them in a safe or lock them away in a secure location.
Set Up Cameras: If you have security cameras installed, ensure they are in working order and recording. They can provide valuable evidence in case of a break-in.
Hold the Deliveries: If you're expecting any deliveries while you're away, arrange for someone to collect packages or delay your delivery.
